Excellent set of desk/handbells--they can be used either way. I am responsible for the music activity in our religious ed classes (ages 5-13) and these are perfect for kids throughout grade school ages...or younger kids, just to learn rhythm, as they get older, they can perform coordinated pieces. The 20 note set allows chord creation and obviously larger range.

love them!! Durable, easy to use, easy to write music to, desk style makes it easier for young children, and older children can play combination of notes.
Desk bells can be used by a single person, where hand bells can be used by a group of people. I am happy to have found these hand/desk bells.
Good tone, too.
